Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, a 407- bed acute care facility, has appointed board-certified radiation oncologist Samuel Au, M.D., PhD. as Medical Director of theAventura Comprehensive Cancer Center.
As Medical Director of theAventura Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Au is responsible for overseeing the plan of care for patients undergoing treatment for cancer diagnoses, and the dayto- day operations associated with oncological care.

With more than a decade of experience as a leader in radiation oncology, Dr. Au brings with him a boundless expertise in the clinical and administrative operation of a cancer center. He will bring his unique energy to oncological services including high precision image guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and prostate brachytherapy, to name a few. His accolades include selection as the “Top-Rated Radiation Oncologist of 2012” byAvvo, a peer review organization, and recognition as the “Best Oncology Service” in 2009 by the National Consumer Survey.
Dr. Au received his medical degree from the University of California in Davis, CA and his radiation oncology residency in Barnes-Jewish Hospitals, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St Louis MO.With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Dr. Au also holds an MBA in Strategic Planning and Financial Management from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering Department from University of Illinois in Urbana- Champaign, IL.
