Aventura Mall visitors try their hand at the AT&T simulators that were part ofnational “Drive 4 Pledges Day” on Sept. 19.

No text is worth dying for. That’s what AT&T hopes drivers took away from their experience with two texting and driving simulators in the center court at the Aventura Mall. The simulator event was part of national Drive 4 Pledges Day held on September 19.

Drive 4 Pledges Day and the AT&T simulators are part of It Can Wait, a campaign launched by AT&T in 2010 to address the dangers of texting while driving and save lives. The It Can Wait initiative has become a movement, garnering support from 200+ organizations.

Clad in “Texting and Driving…It Can Wait” T-shirts and handing out “No Text on Board” bumper stickers, employees from the AT&T kiosk inside the mall encouraged visitors to take the pledge to never text and drive, and to ask their friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to do the same. Visitors were also encouraged to try out the wheel and pedal simulators to experience first-hand the dangers of texting behind the wheel. The AT&T team collected 300 notexting- while-driving pledges during the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. event!

To date, more than 3 million no textingwhile- driving pledges have been made nationwide through ItCanWait.com, social sites like Facebook and at simulator events nationwide.
