“Putting Dreams More Within Reach” and “Share the Health” were themes of the day when Ameriprise Financial Services and Equinox Fitness Club teamed up to host an Aventura Marketing Council “Wild World of Sports” breakfast meeting. The event featured all-star guests including Kim Bokamper, former Miami Dolphin linebacker and WQAM sportscaster and owner of Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill; NFL alumni Terry Kirby; Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brooks Foster and Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll.

AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota, Helfman joined by Jeremy Straub, director of Ameriprise Financial’s Aventura office and Brett Orlando, regional director for Equinox Florida, welcomed hundreds of AMC business and community leaders huddled at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle. Appreciation was expressed to Jon Hirsch of All-Star Football Camp and Floyd Raglin of Floyd Sports Marketing for assembling the sports panel and to Aventura Worldwide Transportation for providing first-class transportation. AMC members were also treated to a special visit by former NBA star Dennis Rodman, a new inductee into the NBA Hall of Fame.

Kicking things off, moderator Kim Bokamper asked Kirby, Foster and Carroll questions giving AMC members “inside the NFL information” including predictions regarding a potential lockout and what it’s really like to play for Dolphins Coach Tony Sporano.

The all-stars agreed one of the “winningest” endeavors is community outreach – especially aimed at youth initiatives. Kirby spoke about founding a charter school following his retirement from the NFL to help make sure kids get “every opportunity to succeed.” This mission is shared by All-Star Sports Camps now offering sponsorships giving businesses great corporate exposure.

During the meeting, Straub expounded upon Ameriprise Financial’s Fortune 500 company philosophy: “You can’t help someone realize their dreams until you get to know the dreamer.” Ameriprise’s highly-personalized approach provides financial planning and advice to help clients reach their goals working with America’s largest financial planning company.

“Ameriprise services include stocks, bonds, investments, banking products, insurance and lending – but what differentiates us is the financial planning side,” Straub said. “We can say, ‘We’re the number one financial planning company’ because we’ve done more financial plans, plus have more financial planning clients and more certified financial planners than any other company out there.”

While Ameriprise is focused on generating wealth – promoting health and longevity is embodied in Equinox Fitness Club’s “360 degree approach” to wellness designed to help everyone exceed their goals and get a fresh start to fitness.

“Equinox devotes a great deal of effort to creating innovative, signature programming such as classes and personal sessions with the training tool called ViPR (Vitality, Performance and Re-conditioning),” Orlando said. The ViPR is a weighted rubber cylinder with multiple hand grips blending cardio, strength and functional training with effective movements combining lifting, flipping, squatting, lunging, carrying, tilting, reaching and rotating.

Equinox at Aventura Mall also offers Pilates plus more than 80 high-energy classes each week such as cycling, dance, kickboxing, martial arts, yoga and Zumba.
