2011 Frist Humanitarian Award nominees honored at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center

On April 12, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center honored its nominees for the annual HCA Frist Humanitarian Awards during a presentation ceremony in its beautiful Mezzanine lobby. Established in 1971, the awards honor outstanding individuals for their humanitarian and volunteer activities.

“Frist Humanitarian Award nominees embody the selfless and caring attributes of so many healthcare professionals, and we are proud to honor our hospital representatives today,” said Heather Rohan, CEO of Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. “Each of our nominees are extraordinary individuals that have gone above and beyond in the personal and professional roles to do what is needed for our community and abroad.”

In recognition of the caring spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., The Frist Humanitarian Awards carry on his legacy by honoring those who follow the same life mission. Physicians, employees and volunteers who demonstrate commitment and dedication to humanitarianism through their chosen field of healthcare are nominated by hospitals around the country.

During the ceremony, each nominee received a personalized plaque highlighting their nomination, as well as a special pin emblazoned with the likeness of Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA and award namesake. This year’s HCA Frist Humanitarian Award nominees from Aventura Hospital and Medical Center are:

• Physician Nominee Frank Cirisano, MD
• Employee Nominee Patricia Stover
• Volunteer

Nominee Myrna Dichter Nominees from Aventura Hospital and Medical Center join the list of nominees from HCA hospitals throughout the country. Winners will be chosen and announced at the national level in May.
