Turnberry Isle Miami hosts Special Operations Warrior Golf Tournament

Turnberry Isle Miami hosts Special Operations Warrior Golf TournamentOn May 18, Turnberry Isle Miami will host the new Special Operations Golf Tournament of South Florida, benefiting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). This inaugural event, held during Armed Forces Day weekend, will raise monies for the foundation to benefit the children and families of Special Operations forces.

Founded in 1980, the SOWF, based in Tampa, FL, is ranked among the top 1% of the nation’s nonprofits. The charity provides funds for a post-secondary education to the surviving children of U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations troops killed in the line of duty.

SOWF also offers academic, grief and family counseling to the surviving spouses and children of special operations personnel who lost their lives in service to our nation. The SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to families of hospitalized special operators.

“We are proud to be hosting such a noble organization,” said Larry Brown, Director of Operations at Turnberry Isle Miami. “Our championship courses are generally only open to Turnberry IsleMiami Resort & Golf Club members and hotel guests, but we are more than happy to extend an exclusive invitation to an association that supports the men and women who have honorably and fearlessly served our country.”

Turnberry Isle Miami’s award-winning 18-hole Soffer course, redesigned by Raymond Floyd, will play host to the Tournament. The exclusive Mediterranean-style retreat spanning 300 lush tropical acres between Miami and Fort Lauderdale has changed the landscape of golf in South Florida, offering lush, tropical grounds accentuated with a variety of elevation changes, contoured fairways, clever doglegs, rolling greens and strategically placed water features.

Turnberry Isle Miami has received prominent awards such as Golf Digest’s one of “America’s Top 50 Courses for Women”, Golfweek’s “Best Resort Courses” and GOLF Magazine’s Silver MedalWinner for Premier Resorts.
