While it may not sound like a traditional Mother’s Day gift, having a simple conversation about having a mammogram could help save a life.
During the month of May, the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center is pleased to offer digital mammograms for only $50. In addition, if you have insurance, screening mammograms are free of charge year-round with no co-payment or deductible required.
Women age 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year and should continue to do so for as long as they are in good health.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection of breast cancer through screenings improves the chances that breast cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage and treated successfully.
