A Talk in the Park consists of two one-act plays, The Duck Variations by David Mamet and The Zoo Story by Edward Albee. Both plays involve two men sitting on a park bench on a sunlit Sunday afternoon, a simple formula which yields anything but simplicities.
The Duck Variations deals with two grumpy old men shadow-boxing in the dusklands of existential twilight, the park bench equivalent of two dueling armchair philosophers. They are jaded by what they see as the crumbling society around them. With a cleverly intertwined blend of both humor and dramatic revelation, they explore life's elusive meaning, using the ducks surrounding them in the park as a metaphor to sublimate the fears they have in their own lives.
The Zoo Story deals with a chance encounter between two men on a sunny afternoon on a bench in Central Park. One is a conservative, family oriented, straight-laced executive. The other, a haunted, lonely, intelligent misfit, desperate for a genuine, meaningful human connection of depth and understanding. Just how desperate he is to achieve this type of connection makes this play one of the most fascinating, compelling and chilling works of drama in our time.
The performance dates and times are as follows: March 29 (preview) at 4pm, March 30 (preview) at 2pm, April 12,13,20,27 at 2pm, May 3 at 2pm. The theater is located at the Pinecrest Gardens Banyan Bowl (former Parrot Jungle location) at 11000 Red Road, Miami, FL in Pinecrest. The plays are intended for mature audiences only. Tickets can be purchased safely and securely online at pinecrestrep.org or through their online booking agency theatermania.com under their Florida listings. Tickets are only $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and up, students and military with proper ID. Credit and debit cards are for advance online purchases only. Only cash at the door.

The Festival will feature a variety of attractions including craft items from The Caribbean, Haiti, The Bahamas, Asia, The Americas and Europe. There will also be a wide array of ethnic cuisines and culinary delights. Admission is free.
The Festival will be held at the Church grounds 16000 SW 112 Avenue, Miami Florida 33157. The public is invited to come and enjoy a fun-filled weekend. The dates and times of the event are as follows:
Saturday April 26th 9:00 AM - Sunset
Sunday April 27th 12:00 Noon – 5:00 PM
The Church is in the midst of a fundraising drive to rebuild their house of worship which was relocated to their parish hall as a result of the damage caused by Hurricane Andrew over 15 years ago. Christ The King has been serving the Richmond Heights, Perrine and surrounding communities for over forty years. During this time the Church, with a unique blend of multi-ethnicity among its parishioners, has provided a host of services including food and monetary assistance to the less fortunate of the community. Christ The King welcomes everyone to join us in the rebuilding effort.
Media Note: This is a great story opportunity, particularly with the vast multi-ethnic composition (over 35 nationalities) of the Christ The King parish - the only parish in the diocese that conducts weekly services in French, Spanish and English.
